The workshop
Khan Al Saboun — a family soap-making workshop from Lebanon
The story of Khan Al Saboun begins in Tripoli, a city that has made olive-oil soap since the Middle Ages. The craft nearly disappeared in the twentieth century - until 1995, when the Hassoun family revived it, returning hand-made soaps, oils and aromatic products to the city's old recipes.
Each product is born from respect for time-honoured methods, handcrafted work and a love of fine natural ingredients. The fragrances of Khan Al Saboun draw on Lebanese, Mediterranean and Oriental botanicals - an atmosphere of refined, authentic craft. Discover Lebanon's soap-making tradition, embodied in the natural care and noble fragrances of Khan Al Saboun.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Khan Al Saboun?
Khan Al Saboun is a Lebanese family workshop that makes hand-made natural soaps, oils and perfumes in Tripoli, the Levant's historic soap city. The name - Arabic for 'soap inn' - comes from the city's old caravanserai that anchored Tripoli's soap trade for centuries. Visit our Khan Al Saboun brand page for the full story.Where are Khan Al Saboun products made?
Every Khan Al Saboun product is hand-crafted in the family workshop in Tripoli, Lebanon. Ingredients are sourced from Lebanon and across the Mediterranean and Levant - olive oil, Damascus rose, frankincense, rosemary, green tea, oud - and combined with modern cosmetic-safety standards. Read more about the workshop on our brand page. Are Khan Al Saboun products vegan and cruelty-free?
Almost all of the range is plant-based, and the brand does not test on animals. A few products use bee-derived ingredients such as honey or beeswax (some face creams, cleansers and lip balms), so not every item is strictly vegan. Each product's ingredients are listed in plain language on our brand page and on every product page - check there if you avoid specific ingredients. What is rosemary oil good for?
Rosemary oil is valued in Mediterranean and Levantine herbal traditions for scalp care and is often used to support healthy hair routines. It pairs well with daily-use shampoos and leave-in oils. Khan Al Saboun's rosemary range - including dedicated hair oils and shampoos - is available in our hair care category. What is the difference between perfumed oil and eau de parfum?
Perfumed oils are alcohol-free, longer-lasting, and richer than eau de parfum. They sit close to the skin and release the fragrance gradually through body warmth. Khan Al Saboun produces both - browse the full range of perfumed body oils for everyday wear and the concentrated eau de parfum collection for occasions.
What is volcanic clay soap good for?
Volcanic clay soap is traditionally valued in Levantine bathing rituals for its mineral content and gentle cleansing. It is often used as part of skincare routines for oily or congested skin. Browse Khan Al Saboun's full soap range - including volcanic clay, Damascus rose, and olive oil bars - at Olea Vitalis. Are these products suitable for sensitive skin and babies?
Many Khan Al Saboun formulas are designed for delicate skin, and the brand maintains a dedicated baby-care line free of perfumes and dyes. Every ingredient is listed plainly on each product page. If you have a known allergy or sensitivity, please review the ingredient list or contact us before ordering.Which countries in Europe do you ship Khan Al Saboun to?
