Questions
Questions about face toner
Do I actually need a toner?
It depends on your water and your routine. If your tap water leaves a film on the skin - common in hard-water European cities - a toner restores the natural slightly acidic pH and removes mineral residue. If you wear daily makeup or use exfoliating actives, a toner between cleanser and moisturiser helps the products that follow absorb cleanly. If neither applies, a toner is optional.Cotton pad versus spray?
Spray on warm-summer days; cotton pad with most of the product when you want a thorough wipe to confirm the cleanser actually removed everything. The Hydrating Toner-Freshener works with both methods - it is not so concentrated that a cotton pad strips skin, and not so dilute that spraying wastes the formulation. Will it sting freshly cleansed skin?
It should not. The toner is alcohol-free and built on rose water with glycerin, so the acidic pH (~5) matches the skin's own surface rather than fighting it. A faint cooling sensation is normal; actual stinging suggests either compromised barrier or sensitivity to one of the floral notes - in which case discontinue and patch-test.Toner before serum or after?
Before. The order most dermatology guides recommend is: cleanser, toner, serum, moisturiser, SPF (in the morning). Toner prepares the skin to absorb the actives in your serum. Applying serum first and toner on top will dilute the serum. How long does an open bottle last?
Eighteen months once opened, kept away from direct sunlight. The toner contains a small amount of phenoxyethanol as a stabiliser - enough to prevent microbial growth but not enough to register as a fragranced or chemical product on skin.
